Visual Highlights from 2008
The New York Times is featuring The Year in Pictures for 2008. Below are my favorites:

Obama commands power when he speaks. The lighting in this shot highlights that.

This is the evacuation of a baby in Iraq. The most fascinating war photos are the ones that combine compassion and hostility.

This is the aftermath of a terrorist attack in Mumbai. The carnage makes it a disturbing photo, but equally important.

New York always looks better at night. This is the Brooklyn bridge, lit up to the fullest.

Gilbert and George at the Brooklyn museum. I had the chance to see some of their work in London as well.
